The Election Commission of Bhutan started, today, the training programme for the Electoral Officers who will be deputed on election duty for the Third Local Government elections, 2021 as Returning Officers, National Observers and Media Arbitrator. The programme will be held for two batches of officers from 21st – 22nd and 25th – 26th October, 2021 at the Democracy House, Thimphu.
The programme is being presided over by the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner, and attended by the Election Commissioners and officials of the ECB.
The objective of the training is to prepare them on electoral laws and most importantly to orient them on the strategies prepared to hold the Third Local Government elections amid the COVID-19 pandemic and in the event of a worst case scenario.
The ECB is confident that through this training the Returning Officers, National Observers and Media Arbitrator will be fully prepared to conduct the upcoming Local Government elections. Additionally, these officials shall be made conversant with the health safety protocols aimed at addressing the risks posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
