The Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) hereby notify all concerned that the 3rd Dzongkhag Thromde Tshogde of Phuentshogling and Thimphu Thromdes with the first sitting on 7June 2021, will complete the Five-Year tenure on 6June 2026. Thereafter, the ECB shall be issuing a notification calling the 4th Thromde Elections in these two Thromdes.
In this regard, the ECB reminds the residents of Phuentshogling and Thimphu Thromdes to avoid organizing social or religious events from 6 June 2026 till the end of August 2026, except for the annual Dzongkhag Tshechus and historical/traditional rituals.
From the date of issuance of the notification calling for the 4th Dzongkhag Thromde Elections, 2026, till the completion i.e with maximum of 90 days, all social and religious activities shall be closely monitored by the Dzongkhag Election Authorities. In the event of other annual calendar events or compelling needs, concerned institutions/individuals must submit applications and obtain approval from the Election Commission of Bhutan or the respective Dzongkhag Election Authority.
In light of the above, the ECB seeks the understanding, support, and full cooperation from all the residents of Phuentshogling and Thimphu Thromdes in ensuring the smooth, free and fair conduct of the forthcoming Thromde Elections, 2026.
