The First Session of the Bhutan Children Parliament (BCP)

The First Session of the Bhutan Children Parliament (BCP) commenced at the Democracy House in Kawajangsa with the 3 day orientation programme from 29th till 31st of December 2015. During the Orientation, the Members of the BCP (MBCP) will be briefed on various aspects of the Bhutanese Democracy and electoral system.

IMG_4218On 1st of January 2016 the Members will be electing the Speaker, Dy. Speaker, Chairperson & Dy. Chairperson for the National Assembly and the National Council of the Bhutan Children Parliament respectively.

 

 

The formal Session of the Bhutan Children Parliament (BCP) will be from 4th to 8th of January 2016 with an Inaugural Ceremony at a Joint Session on 4th of January 2016 followed by the separate House Sittings.

The BCP will again have its joint session on 7th & 8th January 2016 where the Draft Rules of Procedure of BCP 2015 will be adopted and the Minutes and Resolutions of the First Session finalized. The concluding ceremony will be in the afternoon of 8th of January 2016.

 

 

There are 63 MBCP attending the said Orientation Programme out of which 20 are BCP-NC Members and 43 are BCP-NA Members. They are accompanied by 21 escort teachers who are also Democracy Club Coordinators.

 

 

Currently the BCP-NA does not have a representative from Sombaykha (Haa Dzongkhag), Kengkhar_Weringla (Monggar Dzongkhag), Khar_Yurung (Pema Gatshel Dzongkhag) and Lingmukha_Toedwang (Punakha Dzongkhag), as there are no Democracy Clubes initiated in these Demkhongs.

 

 

An extra-curricular programme is also being undertaken to provide opportunity for the Members to get to know each other as well as to have a meaningful as well as an enjoyable experience
