It has come to the notice of the Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) that some aspiring candidates for the upcoming Third Local Government elections, 2021 are carrying out informal election campaigning. The ECB would like to remind the general public that any form of election campaigning is not allowed prior to the notification calling elections as per Section 268 of the Election Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan, 2008.
Any election campaign before the issue of notification calling the elections shall be construed as being in violation of the electoral laws and shall be dealt with as per the electoral laws.
