The Chief Election Commissioner of Election Commission of Bhutan will lead a two member delegation to attend the Fifth Forum of Election Management Bodies of South Asia (FEMBoSA) Kathmandu, Nepal

The Chief Election Commissioner of Election Commission of Bhutan will lead a two member delegation to attend the Fifth Forum of Election Management Bodies of South Asia (FEMBoSA) Kathmandu to be held in Kathmandu on November 29th  and 30th  on the theme Regulating Election Campaign Finance: Ensuring Free and Fair Elections.

 

FEMBoSA is a forum of Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan, Election Commission of Bangladesh, Election Commission of Bhutan, Election Commission of India, Election Commission of Nepal, Election Commission of Pakistan, Election Commission of the Maldives and the Department of Elections, Sri Lanka with the objective of enhancing cooperation on election-related issues among South Asian election management bodies. It was established as common forum on May 1st, 2010. Its charter was signed in 2012. The first meeting of FEMBoSA took place in Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2010, Second in Pakistan in 2011, third in New Delhi, India and fourth meeting in Bhutan in 2013.

 

Nepal will table the issue of financing of the election campaign during the meeting and Bhutan will table the issue of increasing women´s participation in election office. In addition make presentations on Political and Campaign Finance: Bhutanese Commitment to keep Muscle and Money Power out of elections and An Independent Election Management Body: The weakest Link in Bhutanese Democracy.

 

Bhutan will hand over the leadership of FEMBoSA to the Election Commission of Nepal on the occasion.

 

Vice-president of Nepal Rt. Hon’ble Paramananda Jha will inaugurate the meeting at Hotel Soaltee.
