The Election Commission of Bhutan is pleased to announce that two Presidential Public Debates shall be organized, with technical support from the BBSC TV, amongst the Presidents of the Political Parties declared eligible to contest the Primary Round of the Second National Assembly Elections 2013 to offer choice and option to the voters of the Kingdom in forming a dynamic democratic government.

 

The first Presidential Public Debate will take place on 8th of May 2013 in the Auditorium of the Royal Thimphu College where the Speakers are expected to speak on the Political Party Ideology. The second Public Debate on 10th of May 2013 shall be held in the Royal Academy of Performing Arts Auditorium and cover Issues to be addressed Globally, Nationally and Locally by the Party if voted to power from the ensuing elections.

 

Both Debates shall start at 6:00 p.m. and all those wishing to be there as members of the audience must be seated in the Hall before 5.45 p.m. The Debates shall also be broadcast live by the Bhutan Broadcasting Service TV and Radio Stations.

 

In order that the Debates are accorded due dignity and decorum, the audience shall maintain complete silence. No person under the influence of alcohol or in informal dress or with any weapons or mobile phone or cameras shall be allowed in.

 

All interested to witness the Debates in person are welcome! Seating shall be on first come first serve basis.
