Declaration of the Results of Bye-Elections for the post of Gup, Mangmi and Gewog Tshogde Tshogpas

The Election Commission of Bhutan is pleased to hereby declare, as required under Section 457 of the Election Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan 2008, the Results of the Bye-Election to the post of Gup in Boomdeling Gewog under Trashi Yangtse Dzongkhag and Mangmi in Goenshari Gewog under Punakha Dzongkhag and the Gewog Tshogde Tshogpa in Balam_Morphu Chiwog of Balam Gewog and Thrinaphu Chiwog of Na-Rang Gewog under Monggar Dzongkhag, Gewog Tshogde Tshogpa in Peljorling Chiwog of Pungtenchhu Gewog under Tsirang Dzongkhag and Gewog Tshogde Tshogpa in Ngangmalang_Zorjoog Chiwog of Zobel Gewog under Pema Gatshel Dzongkhag at the polls held on 19th November 2020.

The details of the candidates who have been successfully elected as Gup, Mangmi and Gewog Tshogde Tshogpas are as follows:

 


The overall voter turnout and registered voter information are as follows:

(1) Total Registered Voters = 4377 (2120 Male & 2257 Female)
(2) Total Number of Votes Cast = 1598 (763 Male & 835 Female)
i. EVM Votes = 1053
ii. Postal Votes = 545
(3) Voter Turnout = 36.51 %

Further details of the final results are available on the Election Commission’s web page: www.ecb.bt. It is also hereby being notified that as per Section 580 of the Election Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan, 2008, the member elected to fill the casual vacancy shall only serve for the remainder term of the 2nd Local
Government.

The general public and all stakeholders may note that the Election Petition Period of 10 working days for this Bye-Elections starts from today and would end at 4 p.m. of 3rd December 2020.
