Pursuant to Section 457 of the Election Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan, 2008, the Election Commission of Bhutan (ECB) hereby declares the result of the Bye-Election conducted to fill the vacant post of the Tshogpa of Changche_Matshigpogto Chiwog of Gase Tshogongm Gewog under Wangdue Phodrang Dzongkhag.
Mr. Chado Wangchuk, holdingCID No:11906001315, has been successfully elected to the above-mentioned post during the poll held on April 29, 2026.
In terms of the overall voter turnout, of the 404 registered eligible voters (M= 173 & F= 231), 169 (EVM: 132 & Postal Ballot: 37) cast their votes on the poll day with overall voter turnout at 41.83%.
Further details of the result is available on the ECB’s webpage: www.ecb.bt . It is hereby being notified that as per Section 580 of the Election Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan, 2008, the member elected shall only serve for the remainder of his/her predecessor’s term of office.
The public and all stakeholders may note that the Election Petition Period of 10 days for this Bye-Election starts today and ends at 5 p.m. on 13 May 2026.
