V-VOICE (Volunteers for Voter Information, Communication and Education)

The Election Commission of Bhutan through the V-VOICE (Volunteers for Voter Information, Communication and Education), as a part of Civic Education for communities through engagement of volunteers, is conducting a Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop for 21 volunteers from 12th till 14th of May 2014 at Migmar Hotel, Thimphu.

These participants after attending the workshop will be sent to the communities of Chhukha Dzongkhag to assist the Election Commission of Bhutan to conduct awareness on Electoral Democracy and Participation. The programme is being conducted in collaboration with Chhukha Dzongkhag Administration and the Department of Local Governance and the engagement will be thereafter replicated in other Dzongkhags in due course of time.

The opening and closing session were graced by the Hon’ble Chief Election Commissioner, the Election Commissioners, Secretary and senior officials of the Election Commission of Bhutan. The Chief Election Commissioner highlighted the importance of the need for dedicated services of the volunteers to help the electorate understand electoral procedures correctly.
