Declaration of the Results of Bye-Election for the post of Gewog Tshogde Tshogpa and vacant demkhong election for the posts of Gewog Tshogde Tshogpa, Dzongkhag Thromde Tshogpa & Thromde Ngotshab, 2017

The Election Commission of Bhutan is pleased to hereby declare, as required under Section 457 of the Election Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan 2008, the Results of the Bye-Election to the post of Gewog Tshogde Tshogpa in Dungkar Chiwog of Kurtoed Gewog under Lhuentse Dzongkhag and vacant demkhong election for the post of Gewog Tshogde Tshogpa in Darga_Tshebji Chiwog of Getena Gewog, Dzongkhag Thromde Tshogpa in Phuentshogling Maed of Phuentshogling Thromde of Chhukha Dzongkhag and Dzongkhag Thromde Ngotshab of Paro Dzongkhag.

 
The details of the Candidates who have been successfully elected for the said posts are as follows:

The overall Voter Turnout and Registered Voter information are as follows:

 

  • Total Registered Voters = 986 (500 Male & 486 Female)
  • Total Number of Votes Cast (EVM) = 257 (118 Male & 139 Female)
  • EVM = 257
  • Postal Ballot = 25
  • Voter Turnout = 28.6 %

 

There are now a total of 7 remaining vacancies in the Second Local Government, including 5 for the post of Gewog Tshogde Tshogpa and 2 for Dzongkhag Thromde Ngotshab, there where no voters have stepped forward so far to stand as a candidate.

 
It is also being notified that as per Section 580 of the Election Act of the Kingdom of Bhutan, 2008, the member elected to fill the casual vacancy shall only serve for the remainder term of the 2nd Local Government. The Election Petition period starts from 17th of November 2017 and shall end at 4.00 p.m. on 30th of November 2017.
