The Election Commission of Bhutan, in partnership with the Royal Institute of Management, has commenced the Electoral Leadership Excellence Programme for 26 senior officials of the Commission.
The programme focuses on strengthening leadership capability through a combination of practical learning and workplace application. It culminates in an electoral reform project aimed at enhancing decision-making, reinforcing institutional integrity, and building public trust in elections. The programme is spread over 6 months, allowing participants to apply learning in real workplace settings between modules.
Speaking at the opening, Election Commissioner Sonam Pelden Thaye underscored His Majesty The King’s vision of “a democracy rooted in meritocracy, where the most capable and experienced individuals lead the nation,” and highlighted that achieving this begins with building capable, values-driven leadership within key institutions such as the Election Commission
