Briefing session with SPs of Royal Bhutan Police

A day-long Briefing Session was conducted by the Election Commission of
Bhutan for the Superintendents of Police (SPs) of the Royal Bhutan Police on
19th February 2013.
The Briefing Session was conducted to brief the SPs on the 2013 Parliamentary
Elections and clarify Policy as well as operational issues. Focus was given
importance on the process of the Postal Ballot as the armed forces are eligible
postal voters and it was found necessary that the process be properly briefed to
ensure validity, sanctity, and secrecy of the Postal Ballot. The issues relating to
Election Security and Election Disputes were also discussed during the session.
The importance of coordination between the various election and security
authorities was emphasized. Further, the Control Room to be set up in the
Centre at the onset of the Election Period shall be used for speedy and effective
channel of communication with the Dzongkhags.
The Briefing Session was presided over by Hon’ble Chief Election
Commissioner of Bhutan and attended by the Chief of Police and the two
Election Commissioners.
